Loading Bay Equipment
One of the most important places to start, when designing a new loading dock, or carrying out a major refurbishment, is to check the vehicles that will use the new docks. We have a simple check sheet which will help you to obtain the necessary information, to enable a loading bay specialist to recommend the right piece of equipment for the job, not the cheapest.
The wide range of equipment choice starts here…
A range of dock levellers are supplied, telescopic lip or swing lip, electro-mechanical operation. Choice to suit vehicles and operational requirements. Standard widths 2000 mm/2100 mm and lengths from 2000 mm/2500 mm/3000 mm/3500 mm/4000 mm, calculated to suit gradients. Non standard sizes are available which enable us to carry out refurbishment to existing loading bays, reducing the need to reconstruct pits. All equipment meets current H&S and EC Standards.
Unlike most of our competitors, we manufacture sizes to suit the vehicles surveyed, rather than having a “one size fits all” mentality. RIGID framed dock shelters, supplied with a projection to suit your vehicles, and with head curtains ranging from 800 mm to 1500 mm drop, depending on vehicle range. Down to ground models or dock height. RETRACTABLE dock shelters, having a collapsing frame to reduce the impact damage caused when vehicle reverse into the shelter. Side curtains and covers of varying sizes to suit. With or without rainwater run-off.
Again, manufactured in-house to suit the vehicles using the bays. Metal pans, with fire-resistent foam infill, covered with flame retardant fabric. Projects to suit building and vehicle requirements. Side pads 300 mm wide with yellow guide stripe. Head pads of varying height. Option of moving headpad or inflatable head bag.
A range of inflatable dock seal, with or without projecting framework. Dock height or down to ground models. Specials to suit a range of applications. Three-phase blower inflates side and head bag until it comes into contact with the sides and top of the vehicle. Gives an excellent seal to a wider range of vehicles than pads or shelters.
LTL 18 – The latest developed low voltage LED traffic light RED/GREEN system by Eastern. Giving even greater output of light now and having LEDs with two year warranty. Life expectancy of these lights is 5 years and yet one of the lowest priced units on the market and giving some of the brightest output.
Link to your dock door – when closed the light goes to green (tells the driver he can pull away), when the door is open it turns to red (telling the driver he must not move). Keeps heat loss to a minimum and reduces vehicle accidents – and the cost is minimal.
We have a small range of heavy duty mobile yard ramps which are available for rent. We can supply for direct sale or arrange leasing arrangements to keep your initial purchase costs to a minimum. Try one on rental, if you decide you want to buy it within three months, we will deduct the rental costs from the purchase price.
Where mechanical dock levellers need upgrading to meet the latest H&S lifting regulations, we have an option to replace with electro-mechnical equipment with little or none, pit reconstruction.
MOULDED Bumpers RB1018/4, being 450 mm high x 250 mm wide with a 100 mm projection. MOULDED/PE same dimensions as above, but having a yellow PE plate embedded in the front section of the bumpers. MOVING BUMPERS. Both the above can be fitted to our own moving bumpers system, so that the bumpers move with the vehicle movement during loading.
NEW “GREEN” PE MOVING BUMPER
Designed by Eastern to offer a lower carbon footprint. Uses recycled PE. The design allows for the bumper to be used four times that of conventional bumpers and at the end of its life, it can be recycled again. We estimate the life span of this product will be double that of any other fixed PE or nylon bumper on the market and up to 10 times that of fixed moulded rubber bumpers . . . . . and you help reduce your carbon footprint.
Standard yellow painted or galvanised finish. Each pair of wheelguides comes with fixing plates for bolting down to a concete base. Cast-in type can be provided as an alternative. Keeps the vehicle central of the bay, assisting with parking and reducing impact damage on the loading bay.
Simple yet effective method to ensure there is sufficient light inside the vehicle to assist loading and unloading. For sites where condensation/chill is a factor we recommend our stainless steel version.
There are situations when an aditional dock position is needed, but little or no space inside the building. The same situation if a new opening is being prepared and construction of a pit would be expensive. For these applications we recommend a dock leveller on a stand, surrounded by a clad pod, either insulated or single skin metal cladding. With a door fitted either inside the building or on the end of the pod, a new loading bay is quickly and efficiently put into use.
Where vehicle space is limited a saw-tooth dock arrangement can be incorporated, setting the pods at an angle to the building
Custom made to suit customers requirements, many options including platform size, safe working load, finish and safety devices. Can be beneficial to have one installed in multiple bay projects, to cater for unusual vehicles.
With over 20 years combined experience in loading bay design/build the directors of Eastern Doors have considerable knowledge of vehicles and materials handling equipment.
That experience is available free of charge to prospective customers, architects and other companies involved in specifying loading bay equipment.
